The Bauchi State Ministry of Works and Transport has received commendation for its ongoing efforts toward the development and improvement of infrastructure across the state.
The commendation was made by the Executive Chairman of Ningi Local Government Council, Hon. Yahuza Adamu, Ajiyan Ningi, during a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Works and Transport.
Hon. Adamu explained that the visit was aimed at fostering a stronger working relationship between the Ningi Local Government Council and the ministry, particularly in the area of attracting and facilitating developmental projects to the local government.
He appealed to the ministry to give urgent attention to the lingering Ningi–Tiffi Road project, stressing that its completion would significantly improve transportation and connectivity while making movement easier for residents and communities along the route.
Responding to the delegation, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport, Engr. Hamisu Mohammed Garba, assured the council chairman that the request would receive the ministry’s attention.
Engr. Muhammad Garba directed the contractor handling the Ningi Township Road project to inspect the site, assess the level of work already completed and prepare a comprehensive report for onward submission to the Executive Governor of Bauchi State for consideration and necessary approval.
The Permanent Secretary also encouraged the Ningi Local Government Council to continue bringing forward projects and other critical infrastructural needs requiring the ministry’s intervention.
He noted that responding to the infrastructural needs of communities across the state remains an important responsibility of the ministry, adding that constructive engagement with local government councils would help the government identify areas requiring urgent attention.
Also speaking, the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof. Titus Saul Ketkukah, disclosed that the issue of the road had already been receiving attention at the state level.
Prof. Ketkukah said he had, for some time, been presenting a memorandum on the matter before the State Executive Council, with a view to securing the necessary intervention.
He assured the delegation that he would further brief the Executive Governor on the request from Ningi Local Government Council and continue to pursue the matter to ensure that the road project receives the required consideration.
The visit provided an opportunity for both the local government council and the Ministry of Works and Transport to strengthen cooperation and discuss ways of addressing key infrastructural challenges affecting residents of Ningi.
The engagement underscored the importance of collaboration between the state and local governments in identifying development priorities and advancing infrastructure that would improve connectivity, stimulate economic activities and enhance the well-being of communities across Bauchi State.
