Nigeria to Participates in 2024, Global climate summit to achieve zero emission

Monday the 11th of November, 2024, Global climate summit coined “COP29” in Baku, Azerbaijan – has commenced.

With a title, “climate finance COP” is strategically places on the central goal to reach position on how much funding to be provided annually in supporting developing countries cope with climate-related costs.
According to REUTERS News desk, discussion could be tough following recent re-election of former U.S. President Donald Trump, who the source called a climate denier whose campaign vowed to remove the top historic greenhouse gas emitter and leading oil and gas producer from the landmark 2015 Paris Agreement to fight climate change for a second time.

COP29 delegates from about 200 countries, will be pushing for an advance deals made at previous summits especially now that many more people are becoming aware of the challenges of the climate shift.

According to Pinnacle Gazette, topics on this year’s agenda will include refining Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement, securing new climate financing, and bolstering resilience for climate-vulnerable nations. Notably, climate financing is expected to be even more pronounced this year, echoing discussions from previous summits. Developing countries, particularly Small Island Developing States, are pressing for increased resources to adapt to the harsh realities posed by climate change.

Nigeria key interest at summit is to shop for more credible partners for technical collaboration at achieving zero emission, qualifying for access to more global funds on Climate sustainability, expanding her market for huge potentials of gas and it’s resourceful elements among other.
