The Managing Director and State Conservator General of the Bauchi State Tourism Development Corporation, Dr. Muhammad Nasiru Yusuf, has called for urgent intervention to preserve the historic Baban Gwani Gidan Madaki Monument, warning that the treasured heritage site is at risk of collapse if immediate action is not taken.
Dr. Yusuf made the appeal during an inspection visit to the monument, where he expressed concern over its deteriorating condition and stressed the need for coordinated efforts to safeguard the landmark for future generations.
He described the monument as one of Bauchi State’s most significant historical and cultural assets, with immense potential to become a world-class tourism destination and a centre for historical and academic research.
According to him, restoring and conserving the monument would not only protect an important part of the state’s heritage but also boost tourism, create economic opportunities, and attract researchers and visitors from across the world.
Dr. Yusuf therefore called on the government, private sector, development partners, and other tourism stakeholders to work together to restore, preserve, and promote the Baban Gwani Gidan Madaki Monument.
He emphasized that prompt intervention is essential to halt further deterioration and unlock the site’s cultural, educational, and economic potential.
